About Us

The Western Opera Players was formed in 1946 by a group of friends with a shared interest in the theatre.

Their first production was The Gondoliers in 1947. The productions were staged at The Victoria Rooms in Clifton, Bristol until the early 1990's when the company moved to the Redgrave Theatre, also in Clifton.

We rehearse at Southville Methodist Church hall in Stackpool Road, Bedminster, Bristol on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and our main production is usually staged in April. Over the summer recess we sometimes rehearse and produce a mini show or a concert which is performed in September
